Artist biography written in her own words
Poetic Veteran is a queer military veteran whose story is etched with resilience, identity, and expression. Serving during the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” era, she navigated a system that silenced parts of who she was—yet it never extinguished her voice. That voice found its first home in poetry at the age of 13, becoming both a refuge and a rebellion, a way to survive and speak truth to power.
Her military service, marked by discipline and courage, became a foundation for a deeper calling: to turn pain into purpose and silence into sound. As Poetic Veteran, she transforms lived experiences into verse, tackling themes of identity, trauma, healing, and hope with raw vulnerability and unapologetic pride.
With nearly two decades of advocacy in both veteran and LGBTQ+ communities, her work bridges worlds—military and civilian, masculine and feminine, past and future. Through poetry, music, and visual storytelling, she continues to carve out space for others to heal, speak, and exist authentically.
This is more than art. It’s survival. It’s legacy. It’s liberation.
